Where is the promised land? The Jews, the Muslims and most Christians believe that a small strip of land bordering the southeast shore of the Mediterranean Sea is where Jehovah sent Abraham and his seed to the land of their inheritance. And, they’re not wrong.
But members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with the Book of Mormon on one hand, and the Doctrine and Covenants on the other, have learned that the Middle East isn’t the ONLY Promised Land.
Modern scripture and modern prophets have declared that the Americas are the inheritance for the children of Joseph, and most particularly North America and specifically the United States of America, for it was here that the Lord took a hand in its founding, in the writing of the inspired Constitution and gave aid to the Founding Fathers in their gaining independence.
The following podcast was recorded in July 2018 with Hannah Stoddard of the Joseph Smith Foundation who details the divine direction that the Founding Fathers of the United States received in the earliest days of this Republic. For members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it should be remarkable and faith-affirming how the Lord cleared the path for the Restoration of the Church in the only place on earth where a literate people enjoyed the freedom to worship according to the dictates of their own consciences and then choose a new path to salvation.
